There Is A Thesis Being Written!
After two babies, moving house twice, and a long deserved break from research, I have now returned to my PhD and am on the home stretch! So if anyone is still reading this, thank you! It has been a long and fruitful journey, though also one I will be happy to finish :)
I have revised my Project Plans for my return to the research and have also discussed a progress and review schedule with my supervisor to get my thesis written. From here on in, I will be writing and submitting chapters for review monthly (approximately) with the end result being a complete thesis draft by November 2008, review and corrections come December 2008 and January 2009, and official submission in February 2009! back to top

Welcome back to the coalface! :)
Hi Kylie, Thank you for the update. I am eagerly awaiting the findings of your study. Congratulations on the progress!

Hello. Kylie. I am one of your contributors, based in Ontario, Canada. I am happy that you have been able to return to your PhD project. Takes guts.
I am still actively doing family genealogy. I do not recall when you surveyed me, but I sense the IG elements have changed dramatically since 2004-05.
I now find (pay-per-view) research data (for UK cencuses & parishes) readily available. Whereas I KNOW that this data was not there online in 2005, or even in 2005.
This means even more ill-prepared amateurs will start to participate: likely leading to less good work.
I had been considering G. as a professional option upon my inevitable retirement (from an engineering environment). But frankly, if the newcomer can now extract a lot of records too easily, s/he is unlikely to consider paying for services. What think you?
